Like shoes? Then you’ve probably paid more than a few visits to Zappos.com, one of the most popular online providers of footwear. And if you spend a lot of money at this site, you might consider applying for the Zappos.com Rewards Visa card. The card boasts a rewards program that can provide you with serious discounts on your shoe purchases.
Unlike many retailer-affiliated credit cards, the Zappos.com card comes with a reasonable interest rate — depending on the strength of your credit — and a rewards program that can add up to a lot of points quickly depending on your shoe-buying habits.
How This Card Works:
You’ll earn rewards points every time you use your Zappos.com card to make a purchase, more if you use your card to purchase products from Zappos.com. You can then turn these points into Zappos.com gift certificates.
There is one drawback: other non-store-affiliated rewards cards allow you to turn your points into a wide variety of merchandise, airline flights, hotel stays and car rental dollars. With the Zappos Rewards Visa, you are limited to using your rewards points at Zappos.com.
Travel and Shopping Benefits:
You’ll earn three rewards points for every dollar that you charge at Zappos.com. You’ll earn one rewards point for every dollar that you charge on other purchases.
Once you’ve gathered 2,500 points, you’ll automatically receive a $25 Zappos.com gift certificate in your e-mail inbox.
You will also receive a $25 statement credit after your first purchase with the Zappos.com card.
The interest rate attached to the card can range from 13.24 percent to 19.24 percent, depending on the strength of your credit.
Cash advances cost $10 or 5 percent of the amount of each advance, whichever figure is higher. All other penalty fees can run up to $35.
There is no annual fee with this card.
The Bottom Line:
I think the Zappos Rewards Visa is more of a store card for frequent Zappos.com shoppers. Your benefits are not instanantous, like the 5% off at checkout offered by the Target REDCard. But the Zappos.com card does compare well compared to other store credit cards.
- Solid rewards program.
- Reasonable purchase interest rates.
- No annual fee.
- Rewards are limited.
- Purchase interest rate can be high if your credit is weak.
