Verdict: The Platinum card from Veridian has a number of benefits for cardholders. This credit card features no annual fee, an optional rewards program and a very low APR. The rewards program earns one point for every $1 spent, and these points may be redeemed for a variety of rewards. Overall, this credit card is perfect for individuals who carry a balance or those who spend frequently to earn maximum rewards.

Overview: Veridian Credit Union offers two Platinum Visa cards to cardholders, in addition to other financial services. The Platinum and Platinum Rewards cards offer very low variable APRs, along with no annual fee and the optional rewards program that earns points that may be redeemed for gift cards, cash, travel, accommodations and more. These credit cards are the ideal choice for members who carry a balance, as well as those who make frequent purchases and wish to earn rewards.

How These Cards Work: This credit card is accepted worldwide through the Visa network and features a 25-day grace period. To avoid interest charges, cardholders may pay their current balance in full by the due date. For balance transfers and cash advances, charges begin immediately on the transaction date. Online account access is available which allows the cardholder to check transaction history, view balances, make payments, schedule transfers and more. Automatic payments are optional to ensure payments are always received on time. This credit card features free balance transfers, which allows the cardholder to take advantage of low rates by moving balances from a high-interest credit card. The rewards version of this card earns one point for every $1 spent, which may be redeemed online for merchandise, travel and more. Points expire after 5 years and there is a maximum of 400,000 points for each account.

Travel & Shopping Benefits: This credit card features basic travel and shopping benefits. Cardholders can receive special Visa discounts at select retailers across the country, as well as online. Emergency assistance is available, which provides emergency card replacement and cash disbursement. This credit card features Verified by Visa as well, which provides excellent fraud protection. Verified by Visa allows the cardholder to select a password for online use to verify their identity. Free Visa checks are also provided for convenience and extra purchasing versatility. The rewards version of this credit card earns cardholders one point for every $1 in net spending, with a maximum of 400,000 in lifetime points. These points may be redeemed for accommodations, travel, gift certificates and more.

Fees: There is no annual fee for this credit card. The APR is as low as Prime plus 3.9% minus 12.9% for the Rewards card and Prime plus 2.9% minus 12.9% for the regular Platinum card. Currently, the APR for the regular card is between 5.9% and 18.0% and 6.9% to 18.0% for the Rewards card. Card replacement is $5 and express card replacement is $25. Payments over 15 days late incur a $15 late fee and NSF checks cost $30. Copies of actual charge slips are $3.
