The Verdict: We at CreditShout generally look down on credit cards affiliated with stores and other retailers. In most cases, these cards come with sky-high interest rates and weak rewards programs. (If they come with rewards programs at all.) The Sierra Trading Post Rewards Visa Card, though, might be the exception. And for frquent shoppers at Sierra Trading Post, a solid rewards program can help generate rewards points quickly.

Overview: This is a solid rewards card that provides extra rewards for those consumers who shop frequently at Sierra Trading Post, either online or at the company’s physical stores. It also comes with a purchase interest rate that is fairly standard for the industry.

How This Card Works: Cardholders will receive rewards points for every purchase that they make, though they’ll receive far more when they charge Sierra Trading Post items. Once they earn enough points, they can turn them into a Sierra Trading Post gift certificate worth $25.

Travel and Shopping Benefits: Cardholders will earn three rewards points for every dollar that they charge on Sierra Trading Post merchandise. They’ll earn one rewards point for every dollar that they spend on all other purchases. Once they’ve earned 2,500 points, they can turn these rewards points into a $25 gift card good for Sierra Trading Post purchases.

Fees: The purchase interest rate attached to this card ranges from 12.99 percent to 23.99 percent, depending on the creditworthiness of cardholders. There is no annual fee with the card. Other fees are fairly standard: Cash advances cost $10 or 3 percent of the advance amount, whichever figure is higher. Other fees, including late-payment, returned-payment and overlimit, can reach as high as $35.

Pros:

  • Solid rewards program.
  • Reasonable purchase interest rate.
  • No annual fee.

Cons:

  • Rewards can only be turned in for Sierra Trading Post gift certificates.
  • Purchase interest rate can be high for consumers wtih weak credit.
