Verdict: This card is geared towards those persons who take frequent cruises, as this is the only way to earn the maximum points. Even those aren’t great, however, as other travel service credit cards offer up to 4 points for every $1 spent on specific sponsor purchases. (The Princess Cruises cards only awards 2 points for every $1 spent on Princess Cruise travel services or related purchases.)

Further, not everyone will qualify for this type of credit card, which is a Signature credit card. Those who do not qualify may receive a Platinum Visa credit card.

The interest rates are fairly low, when compared with other cards, but the bottom line is there are better sponsored credit cards out there.

Overview: The card is sponsored by Princess Cruise Lines, and has a rewards program which awards additional points for using the sponsor’s services. It is backed by Visa, and accepted anywhere Visa cards can be used.

How This Card Works: Purchases of cruise packages or related services or merchandise associated with Princess Cruise Lines earns the cardholder double points. An initial bonus 5,000 “Princess Points” can be earned after the first purchase. New members may also be offered additional benefits from time to time.

Travel and Shopping Benefits: Cardholders can earn two “Princess Points” each time purchases or transactions are made through or with Princess Cruise Lines. The transactions can be either online or onboard. One “Princess Point” is earned for each $1 spent for other purchases.

Fees: This is a no annual fee card, and the other fees are pretty much the same as those for other credit cards. $10 or 4% is charged for balance transfers; $10 or 3% is charged for cash advances and other purchases.

Pros:

  • No annual fee
  • Initial 5,000 bonus points after first purchase
  • Fairly low interest rates: 10.24%, 13.24%, 17.24% depending on creditworthiness

Cons:

  • Not everyone qualifies for Princess Cruises Rewards Visa Credit Card
  • Geared toward those who take frequent cruises
  • Other credit card companies offer up to 4 rewards points for sponsor purchases; Princess Cruises only offers up to 2.
