Verdict:

If you charge a significant amount of money on your credit card each month, the PNC Points Visa Card might be the perfect rewards card for you.

This card boasts a generous rewards program, one that allows you to quickly build points that you can redeem for anything from cash to notebook computers.

Depending on your credit, the card also comes with a low interest rate.

Overview:

The PNC Points Visa Card sets itself apart from its rewards-card competitors thanks to its generous rewards program. You can also redeem your rewards points quickly. You only need to hit 3,000 rewards points to start redeeming for merchandise.

How This Card Works:

Once you build up enough points, you can redeem them for cash-back bonuses, gift certificates, jewelry, outdoor gear, notebook computers, digital cameras and a variety of other items.

Travel and Shopping Benefits:

You’ll earn four points with every dollar that you charge with your PNC Points Visa card. That’s pretty generous. But you’ll also earn 3,000 bonus rewards points just for making your first purchase.

Fees:

The PNC Points Visa comes with an introductory interest rate of 0 percent for the first nine billing cycles. After that, it adjusts to a purchase interest rate of anywhere from 11.95 percent to 19.99 percent, depending on your credit.

Be careful, though, if you miss a payment or pay late, your interest rate could rise to a stunningly high 28.99 percent.

Other fees are standard. You’ll have to pay up to $35 if you pay your bills late or send in a payment that needs to be returned. A cash advance will cost you either $10 or 4 percent of the advance amount, whichever is higher.

The card comes with no annual fee.

The Bottom Line:

Pros:

  • Earn four rewards points with every qualifying dollar you charge.
  • No annual fee.
  • Low interest rate depending on your credit score.
  • Purchase interest rate can be as high as 19.99 percent if you have a weak credit score.

Cons:

  • Penalty interest rate of 28.99 percent.
  • Late and returned-payment fees of $35.
