Verdict: No one’s happy with the price of gas these days. Filling up the family car is taking up a bigger chunk of everyone’s income. But if you live near LUKOIL or GETTY gas stations, the LUKOIL Platinum MasterCard can provide some relief. This card provides significant cash-back rebates on any charges that cardholders make at these stations. That makes this a valuable card today.

Overview: The LUKOIL Platinum MasterCard also offers cash-back rebates at all other locations in addition to LUKOIL and GETTY stations. However, cardholders will get the most from this card if they purchase the majority of their gasoline from these stations.

How This Card Works: In addition to providing cash-back rebates at LUKOIL and GETTY gas stations, the card also provides rebates — although they are smaller ones — for all other purchases that cardholders charge. The card also comes with a reasonable purchase interest rate, depending upon cardholders’ creditworthiness.

Travel and Shopping Benefits: Cardholders will receive 4 percent cash-back rebates every time they charge purchases at LUKOIL or GETTY gas stations across the country. They’ll receive rebates of 1 percent on all other charges. During the first 60 days after cardholders open their accounts, they’ll receive double cash-back rebates. This means that they’ll receive 8 percent cash back at all GETTY and LUKOIL stations and 2 percent rebates for all other purchases.

Fees: The purchase interest rate with the LUKOIL Platinum MasterCard is either 13.99 percent, 19.99 percent of 22.99 percent depending on the creditworthiness of cardholders. The card comes with an introductory interest rate on balance transfers of 0 percent. This introductory rate remains in place for the first six billing cycles after cardholders open their account. Other fees are standard, with late or returned-payment fees costing up to $35. Cash advances cost either $10 or 5 percent of the advance amount, whichever is higher.

Pros

  • Generous cash-back rebates for charges made at LUKOIL and GETTY gas stations.
  • Smaller cash-back rebates for all other purchases.
  • No annual fee.

Cons

  • Purchase interest rate can be high if cardholders’ credit score is low.
  • Penalty interest rate of 30.24 percent.
  • Late and returned-payment penalties of up to $35.
