Verdict

Most store credit cards, even those bearing the Visa or MasterCard label, are typically not the best deals.

Gymboree breaks that rule with a store rewards credit card with a relatively low APR, no annual fee, and a generous rewards program. If you have young children, this is a card worth carrying.

Overview

Gymboree offers solid quality clothing for babies, toddlers and young children at reasonable prices. You’ll pay more than at big box stores, but less than at specialty boutiques.

The 5% rewards you earn when you shop at Gymboree with a Gymboree Visa rewards credit card, issued by U.S. Bank, makes your purchases an even better value.

Best of all (and unusual for a store-branded credit card) you also get a 1%  reward on all your everyday purchases. This 1% reward will be in the form of a $10 Gymboree gift card each time you reach $1,000 in accumulated card purchases outside of Gymboree clothing!

To sweeten the pot, you will get a 20% discount on your first Gymboree purchase using this card, and a $10 enrollment bonus good at Gymboree stores, Gymboree Outlet stores or Gymboree.com.

The APR variable, isn’t the best, but it’s significantly lower than many other store credit cards.

How This Card Works

This card is the same as most Visa rewards credit cards, with a host of benefits available to cardholders. You receive a 5 % instant discount on Gymboree clothing purchases, including sale merchandise, so there’s no waiting for cash back rewards.

This 5% discount applies to purchases at every Gymboree store and Gymboree outlet purchase, not including Gymboree Play & Music, Crazy 8, or Janie and Jack purchases, which qualify for 1% rewards. Plus, as a Gymboree rewards Visa card member, you’ll also get additional Gymboree discounts throughout the year.

You also get 1% rewards on every purchase, which means for every $1,000 you spend, you get a $10 gift card for Gymboree.

• In any participating Gymboree clothing store or Outlet store

• Visit the website
• Mail in a completed application after you pick it up at any Gymboree store

If you are accepted, you’ll also receive a $10 Gymboree gift card by mail.
