The Verdict: Depending on the strength of your credit, the ESL Visa Gold credit card can make a nice addition to your wallet thanks to its low purchase interest rate. But to apply for this card, you must be a member of the ESL Federal Credit Union, one that’s open to employees or retirees — and their families — of Eastman Kodak Company and their subsidiaries.

Overview: Like most credit union credit cards, the ESL Visa Gold credit card comes with a purchase interest rate that is far lower than what you find at most traditional consumer credit cards. This card, though, also offers low introductory balance transfer and purchase interest rates, making it an even more desirable card.

How This Card Works: The ESL Visa Gold credit card is not a rewards card or a cash-back card. This means that you won’t receive any rewards points or cash back when you use this card to make purchases.

Travel and Shopping Benefits
: The main shopping benefit with this card is the low purchase interest rate. If you’re the type of consumer who routinely carries a credit-card balance, this low rate can help prevent your balance from rising too quickly.

Fees: The ESL Visa Gold card comes with a purchase interest rate that, if your credit is strong, can be as low as 9.98 percent. If your credit is weak, the rate can rise to 17.99 percent. The card also comes with an introductory interest rate of 3.99 percent on new purchases and balance transfers for the first six billing cycles after your card is approved. There is no annual fee. Both late-payment and returned-payment fees can run as high as $25.

Pros:

  • No annual fee.
  • Low purchase interest rate.
  • Low introductory interest rate offer on new purchases and balance transfers.

Cons:

  • Must be member of ESL Federal Credit Union to apply for this card.
  • No rewards program.
