The Verdict: Members of the Delta Community Credit Union have their choice of a few credit cards to apply for. The Visa Gold card is a good choice for most members because it offers many rewards with a high credit limit and reasonable APR. There is no annual fee for this credit card or fees for balance transfers. Cardholders earn one point for every $1 spent and receive bonus points and a bonus cash rebate on initial balance transfers. This is a well designed credit card that is suited for consumers with many different credit needs.

Overview: The Delta Community Credit Union offers a few options to members that wish to apply for a credit card. The Visa Gold card is a good choice for most because it has a generous credit limit, a variable APR of 11.75% and a solid rewards program. This card also gives two bonuses upon enrollment: 2,000 bonus points and a 1.5% cash rebate on balance transfers during the first 3 months.

How These Cards Work: The Visa Gold card is accepted worldwide. Cardholders can access ATMs worldwide with a PIN number for 24-hour access to cash. There is a 25-day grace period on this credit card that allows cardholders to avoid interest charges on purchases if the balance is paid in full during this time period. Interest is charged beginning on the transaction date for balance transfers and cash advances. This card has a credit limit up to $20,000 for qualifying applicants. Applying for the Delta Visa Gold card requires membership in the credit union. Membership requires a $5 deposit in a savings account and residency in select Georgia counties, membership in select organizations or current or previous employment at a number of companies.

Travel & Shopping Benefits: The Visa Gold card includes excellent fraud protection and optional enrollment in the Verified by Visa program. This allows the cardholder to select a password to use for online shopping to verify identity and prevent fraudulent online purchases. This card includes free auto rental insurance and emergency services like cash disbursement and card replacement. This card includes free enrollment in the rewards program, which includes 2,000 bonus points upon enrollment. 1 point is earned for every $1 spent and there is a 1.5% cash rebate for balances that are transferred during the first 90 days.

Fees: The Visa Gold card has no annual fee. The APR for purchases, balance transfers and cash advances is a variable 11.75%. A penalty APR of 16.75% may be applied to the balance of the card if a late payment is received. The penalty APR will apply until six minimum payments are received on time. There is a flat-rate cash advance fee of $3, along with a foreign transaction fee between 0.80% and 1.0%. There is no over-limit fee but a fee up to $25 may apply to late payments and returned payments. The statement copy fee is $3 and the document copy fee is $6. A rush fee of $15 applies during weekdays and $30 on Saturdays. A stop payment costs $15 and convenience checks are $3.
