The Verdict: The Pure Rewards card from Affinity Credit Union is similar to their Premium card, with an added rewards program. This credit card has no annual fee, no hidden costs and carries an APR as low as 12.0%. With a full range of travel and shopping benefits, such as auto rental insurance, a warranty program and discounts at retailers, this card has a lot to offer. Although the APR for this credit card can be high, it is still a good option for members who never carry a balance and want to earn rewards for their purchases.

Overview: There are two credit card options for members of the Affinity Federal Credit Union: the Premium Visa card and the Pure Rewards Visa, which offers the same benefits of the Premium with an added rewards program. This credit card has many advantages to members as it is free of hidden fees and carries a reasonable APR of 12.0%. The card includes many travel and shopping benefits, such as travel insurance and warranty coverage, and works well to earn rewards on every day purchases.

How These Cards Work: The Pure Rewards Visa from Affinity is accepted worldwide through the Visa network and gives cardholders access to cash at ATMs everywhere. The card has a 25 day grace period, during which time no interest is charged on purchases. To avoid interest charges, cardholders must pay off their balance in full during this time. Balance transfers and cash advances begin to accrue interest immediately. There is no liability for fraudulent purchases and cardholders may enroll in the Verified by Visa program to select a password to use during online shopping. Cardholders also have free access to their account online to view balances, check transactions and make payments. This credit card also has a rewards program that earns the cardholder one point for every $1 spent. These points may be redeemed online for cash back, travel vouchers, merchandise and more. Points never expire and cardholders may earn bonus points for shopping at select retailers.

Travel & Shopping Benefits: This credit card has many benefits to offer, beginning with Visa discounts at select retailers along with discounts on hotel stays, rentals and more. The card has purchase security to reimburse the cardholder for the value of items stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase. Concierge service is offered for free to assist with travel plans, restaurants and reservations. Auto rental coverage is included to cover the cardholder for collisions and theft, allowing the cardholder to waive this optional insurance when renting a vehicle. Travel accident insurance and emergency assistance, baggage delay coverage and emergency card replacement are included. The warranty program registers warranties for purchases and will double manufacturer’s warranties if they are under three years. The Pure Rewards card also earns one point for every $1 spent that may be redeemed for cash back, merchandise, gift cards, travel and more. There is no expiration for the points and cardholders receive 5,000 bonus points after their first purchase.

Fees: There is no annual fee for the Affinity Pure Rewards card. The APR is a variable 12.0% to 18.0%, which varies depending on credit worthiness. The APR applies to everything, including purchases, balance transfers and cash advances. There are no transaction fees for balance transfers and cash advances and there is no minimum interest charge. Foreign transactions may incur a fee between 0.8% and 1.0%. A fee up to $25 may apply to late payments and returned payments. Card replacement is $5 and statement copies are $3.
