Q: I was wondering what the late fee is for my American Express. Where can I find this information?
For your Delta SkyMiles card, the late fee also is “up to $38,” plus any service charge. For the Gold and Platinum cards, it will be $38 for the first consecutive late payment, and after that it will be the greater of $38 or 2.99% of the amount that is past due.

You should have received one when you signed up for the card, but if you never received one or misplaced yours, American Express publishes these documents on their website.
If you have a history of paying your credit card bill on time, you may be able to get the late fee waived. Some people have had success with this, although others have been turned down even when they were not at fault for the late payment. Call American Express and explain your personal situation (you moved and didn’t receive your credit card bill, or you paid a few days before the due date but it didn’t go through in time), and ask to speak to a supervisor if the first person says it can’t be done. This doesn’t always work, but the worst they can do is say no.
