Q: I’m having a hard time finding a customer support number for American Express. There are a lot of different numbers included on their website. What phone number should I use for a customer service question?

A: If you have an American Express Credit Card, the chances are that at some time you will have to contact Customer Support. Fortunately, American Express makes this easy to do by listing several numbers according to the type of service you can receive.

For example, if you have a general customer service question, you can call 1-800-528-4800. You can call this number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This makes it very convenient if you don’t keep “regular” office hours.

If you want to pay your bill, call 1-800-IPAY-AXP. That’s 1-800-472-9297 for those of you who may prefer not to have to look for the number that corresponds to the words, letters, or phrases given.

You can even apply for an American Express Credit Card by phone. Simply call 1-800-223-2670, and give the necessary information when you are prompted to. This is also a 24/7 phone number.

If you wish to utilize the “EXPRESS CASH” feature, and you are in the United States (the number is only good in the U. S.), you can call 1-800-CASH-NOW (1-800-227-4669. Remember, this number is only good for those calling from within the United States.

For gift cards call 1-800-AXP-GIFT (1-877-297-4438); for a PASS CARD call 1-877-405-7277. Both of these numbers are also answered 24/7.
