Q: How do I get improved for a higher credit card limit with Citi? What kind of background information do I need to provide?
A: You need or want to increase your Citi credit card limit either because you need to charge a higher amount than what you have available and want to know how to go about this. It’s very simple to do, and it can be done online.
First, you need to log on to Citibank account. Next, locate the Manage My Account; Credit Line Increase Request, and click on that. You will then see one of two screens.
If you see the “Instantly Approved” screen, it means that an on-the-spot analysis was made of your account and you are eligible for a credit limit increase in a specific amount. You can accept this amount, decline it, or even ask for an additional increase.
If you see the screen that says “Manual Review,” you’ll have to provide some more information. This will include your current income as well as some back account information so they can check your balance. Additionally, if you agree to a full review, the card company will also run another credit report. This won’t happen if you decline the full review.
Don’t forget, though, you can always decrease it again. So, if this increase was needed for an emergency situation or needed purchase, you may want to consider lowering your limit everything has settled back down.
