Q: I am planning a ski trip soon, and I noticed that lift tickets are very expensive. Can I get discounts if I pay for them with my credit card?

A: This is another one of those “sort of” answers, because it has caveats. You can get discounted lift tickets if you join a ski resort’s membership program such as PEAKS (there are others-check with the ski resort you are planning to visit for information on membership programs.)

Once you have joined the membership program, you can purchase advance lift tickets by linking your membership card to credit card. In this way, you become eligible for any discounts that might be offered.

As mentioned earlier, there are other resort membership programs. These programs encourage you to join them by offering certain discounts such as the opportunity to get one free ticket after you have bought a certain amount of lift tickets at the regular price and paid for them with your credit card.

You may have do a combination payment method of charging some of the amount to your credit card and redeeming points you have accrued through your credit card’s rewards program in order to pay for the tickets.

If you are not certain about lift ticket discounts or membership programs at ski resorts, you might want to contact your ski resort destination first. Staff members can help you with any questions you may have.
