Q: I know there are tons of travel related perks with American Express. But can I book a vacation like a cruise with my Amex card?
A: American Express Travel gives you the opportunity to book all types of vacations, including cruises. They can help you find the cruise you want using your favorite cruise line or offer you suggestions on which cruise lines can give you what you are looking for.
You can use American Express Travel services in two ways. You can call 1-800-999-2599 and ask for assistance from a cruise specialist in booking your next cruise through American Express or you can go online to https://travel.americanexpress.com/home and use the cruise line search engine provided on the website.
If you prefer to use the website, you will be asked to complete a simple form.
You will be asked to select the type of travel you are interested in (cruises or vacation packages) your destination—you’re not obligated to choose one; it will show you what’s available anywhere American Express Travel books to—and travel dates.
Again, you don’t have to choose a date range, which can make it very convenient if you have flexible travel dates.
You can even put in how much you can afford to spend in the “Travel Budget” section.
This will allow American Express Travel personnel to concentrate on information that matches your price range. You can also select the travel company with which you wish to do business with. American Express Travel will help you communicate with that agency in order to plan the trip you want.
Don’t have American Express? Don’t worry. You can use your rewards points with Chase and Citibank to book cruises as well. Or even head over to the Costco Travel site to make sure your rewards program is providing you a good deal on your next cruise.
