Slate© from Chase is now offering a $75 bonus after $300 is spent within the first 3 months. Customers with good or excellent credit will qualify for a 0 percent APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months, making this a very attractive 0% balance transfer card.
Other than the $75 bonus and balance transfer options, this card is really all about the fees. Chase seems to be marketing this card as a low-fee card with plenty of payment options. There are no cash back, miles or points rewards on this card, so this isn’t the best card for a frequent flyer or anyone else who is hoping to earn rewards. However, this card has BluePrint features, which will be explored below.
Features of the Chase Slate Card
As mentioned, this card has BluePrint features. This doesn’t mean that you’ll get a ridiculously complicated diagram with your credit card. What you’ll get are financial tools to help you pay off your balances in a customer-friendly manner and track your spending.
The BluePrint feature will allow you more flexibility to work out payment terms than most other credit cards offer. You can set a goal date to pay off purchases, such as large purchases, and work out a payment plan to meet that goal. So, if you go out and buy a new $2,000 bedroom set next month on your Chase Slate card, you could set a goal and pay a monthly balance to hit it. There are other payment options, so you’ll have a few to choose from if you go with this card.
The BluePrint feature will also allow you to track your progress against your goals. With this and other financial tools, it could be very useful if you are not accustomed to closely monitoring your credit card habits.
Other than the BluePrint feature, this card is rather weak on rewards perks. It is geared toward those who wish to do a balance transfer or manage their finances better, not cash in on a load of rewards.
There is no annual fee with this card, so you can keep your fees very low or even eliminate them if you pay your monthly balances on time. The rest of the fees are similar to those on most other credit cards.
With a $75 bonus being the only true reward that is offered with this card, there are plenty of better cards out there for this purpose. However for those of you looking to transfer a balance to a 0% APR card, this is a good option and the $75 bonus will cover the 3% balance transfer fee for most people.
