If you fly often to locations in Mexico, the AeroMexico Visa Signature Card might make sense for you. With this card, you’ll earn one free airline mile — which you can use to book flights on AeroMexico — for every dollar that you charge. But Visa is currently offering a hefty amount of bonus miles for people who sign up for this card. All it requires is that you either make your initial purchase with this card or pay its annual fee.

Once you do this you’ll receive 20,000 bonus air miles. You’ll also receive a free companion ticket when you meet this threshold.

The competition is tough among credit card companies that issue miles cards. Perks like this one offered by the AeroMexico Visa Signature Card are the result of this competition. It might not be good news for the credit card companies, but it certainly is for consumers.

In addition to its bonus offer, the AeroMexico card offers other valuable perks. Every time you renew your card, you’ll receive 4,000 bonus miles plus another $99 companion ticket. When you use your card to make AeroMexico airfare purchases, you’ll earn double miles. You’ll also receive a discount of 15 percent on AeroMexico airfare purchases.

This card, though, isn’t free to own. Its annual fee is waived for the first year after you activate your account. Every year thereafter, though, you’ll have to pay a fee of $80 to use your card.
