No More Wawa Credit Card?

No More Wawa Credit Card?

If you live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US, it is tough to look in any direction without seeing at least one Wawa store. Wawa also operates in Florida, as well. Meaning that many retirees from the Mid-Atlantic states never have to go without it. Now Wawa loyalists will need to do without the Wawa credit card.

With loads of Wawa locations to choose from, their gas stations can be convenient for those in the mentioned areas. Wawa customers formerly could save 4 percent on their gas and other purchases from the chain with the Wawa Visa card.

In fact, during the first 90 days, that rate was even higher at 10 percent.

Then, the card was cancelled, leaving Wawa fans without their cherished source of savings. Though you can still take advantage of the Wawa rewards program.

If you still frequent Wawa stores and would like to save on your gasoline purchases, your best bet is to go with a regular credit card. So which cards are the best for Wawa customers?

Blue Cash Everyday From American Express

The Blue Cash Everyday card offers 2 percent cash back on all gas purchases. This is a better rate than you’ll find on most other credit cards.

Also, if you want to stop in the store and buy a bag of chips, soft drink or whatever else you’d like, you’ll get 1 percent cash back on those items. This card will also give you 3 percent cash back on groceries, as well. Additionally, there is no annual fee with this card, making it an overall good card to swipe at a Wawa gas pump, use in the store or for your other general shopping needs.

BankAmericard Cash Rewards™ Credit Card

Wawa fans can save plenty on gas with the BankAmericard Cash Rewards Card. This card offers 3 percent cash back on gas purchases (subject to a quarterly cap described below), meaning that you’ll get a better rewards rate than most gas cards currently offer.

With this card, you will get at least 1% cash back on every purchase. But some purchases allow you to earn bonus cash back. This is because you can get 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs, and 3% on gas up to the first $2,500 in combined grocery/wholesale club/gas purchases each quarter.

There is no annual fee, meaning that you’ll earn rewards free of charge if you keep up with your bills.

Which Card is Best For Wawa Gas?

Purely for gas purchases, I recommend going with the BankAmericard Cash Rewards™ Credit Card.

But, if you are willing to buy gas at non-Wawa locations, you can get 4% back at the pump at Costco and traditional gas stations with the new Costco Anywhere Visa card. (Editor’s Note: 4% back on the first $7,000 per year you spend on gas; then 1% back.)
