In what seems like an off and on program, US Airways has reinstated it’s 100 percent bonus program for airline miles. Between now and September 15, 2011, customers may receive up to a 100 percent bonus on their purchases of airline miles.
How does this all work?
How Many Miles Will You Get?
The bonus that a customer will receive depends on how many miles he or she purchases. The following is a breakdown of how many bonus miles you can expect to receive if you purchase airline miles from US Airways:
- Purchase 10,000 to 19,000 miles: 10,000 bonus miles
- Purchase 20,000 to 29,000 miles: 20,000 bonus miles
- Purchase 30,000 to 39,000 miles: 30,000 bonus miles
- Purchase 40,000 to 49,000 miles: 40,000 bonus miles
- Purchase 50,000 miles: 50,000 bonus miles
How Much Money Can You Save?
This move effectively cuts the price of each US Airways mile from 2.75 cents to 1.38 cents. Thus, the price of 100,000 miles is reduced from $2,750 to $1,380. So, if you were thinking about buying US Airways miles anyway, the price of 50,000 miles just dropped by $1,370. That works out to a pretty good deal.
Where You Can Redeem Your Miles?
Not only are the airline miles redeemable with US Airways, they are redeemable with various other airlines. The following airlines will accept your US Airway miles: Adria Airways, Aegean Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Blue1, BMI, Brussels Airlines, Continental Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EgyptAir, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Spanair, Swiss International Air Lines, TAM Airlines, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways International, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, Bahamasair, Hawaiian Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Jet, Qatar Airways, and Royal Jordanian.
What Will You Get For Your Airline Miles?
If you purchase the maximum amount of US Airway miles – 100,000 (50,000 + 50,000 bonus), you can travel from North America to Europe and back in business class or you can use 60,000 miles to make the same trip in economy class during most of the year. During off-peak times, such as January and February, the same 60,000 miles will get you there and back in business class. 90,000 miles will get you to North Asia and 60,000 miles will get you to Africa in business class.
