There are plenty of reasons why college students should strive for good grades in their classes. However a card offered by Citi rewards students who maintain a high GPA, giving them an additional incentive to keep their grades up.

The Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Card for College Students offers additional rewards points, called ThankYou points, to students who post exceptional grade point averages. Twice a year, students can submit their grades to Citi to earn more ThankYou points. A 2.5 GPA is good for 250 points, while a 3.0 earns students 500 points and a 3.5 entitles cardholders to 750 points. And a perfect 4.0 grade point average garners a whopping 2000 ThankYou points!

Students can also earn a ThankYou Point for every dollar charged on the card and five points for every dollar spent at restaurants, bookstores, music stores, movie theatres, and participating video stores. In addition to a 10% discount on items at MTV.com, the Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Card rewards 25 ThankYou points each month just for staying under the credit limit and paying the bill on time.

There is no annual fee for this card, and Citi is offering 0% APR for the first seven months of the cardholder’s membership.
