One company oversees one of the most popular credit cards rewards programs in the world. The other is the industry leader in online book, music, and gift sales. It was only a matter of time before they joined forces.
American Express and Amazon are teaming up to allow AMEX credit card users to redeem their Membership Rewards points directly at the online retailer’s website. These points can be used to purchase products in categories such as books, movies, games, clothing, and many others. It’s the first time that a credit card company has teamed up with Amazon in this manner.
Cardholders must have an active account on Amazon to take advantage of this program. In addition, they must visit the retailer’s site and follow the instructions to link their Membership Rewards points to their Amazon account. This process does not disqualify these rewards points from being applied toward other programs. They can still be used for rewards such as airfares, hotel stays, and vacation packages booked through the credit card’s travel website.
