How This Card Works

When the card is used, the amount that the card is used for is charged to the card. The cardholder than has the convenience to pay off the balance

When adding an additional cardholder to the account, you have the option of receiving an itemized statement of all transactions through each separate card, rather than the account as a whole. Cards are recommended to be issued to users 15 and above, as well as a member who has never defaulted on an American Express Account.

Travel and Shopping Benefits

The annual fee of $95.00 is reduced to $40.00 if the card holder has a qualifying American Express Consumer Charge Card.

When purchasing plane tickets through Delta, you are given the option to pay with the balance of the SkyMiles alone, with the credit card, or use a combination of both to cover the full cost of the flight.

As an added bonus, emergency check in is available to cardholders that have lost their cards, or have had their cards stolen – and the stay can still be charged to the card.
This, combined with access for cardholders to American Express Online allows the card holder to receive exclusive details on hotel reservations, vacations and car rental discounts make the card a valuable money saving tool.

Should you get that high in points, your rewards are limited to a maximum amount of $60,000 per year of spending using rewards.

Fees

The grace period for new purchases is twenty days, and is calculated using the average daily balance in combination with new purchases. Keep in mind this grace period is only effective if the balance is paid in full at the time of the previous statement.  All purchases must be paid by the due date to become eligible for this grace period.

When transferring balances to this card, it is free, as well as the cardholder is given an introductory rate of 9.99% APR for the first twelve months that the cardholder has the card. Lower than many other monthly cards, this interest rate is valuable and can be taken advantage of for balance transfers. On the other hand, there are many other cards offering 0% APR for the same length of time.

The Gold Delta SkyMiles card comes with an APR of 14.49% for regular purchases, cash advance rates of up to 22.99% APR and has a minimum finance charge of $0.50.
Defaulted accounts are subject to higher rates of 19.99% APR and 28.99% APR depending on the customers history with the company and the length of time that the account has been in default.
