The Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express OPEN allows holders to build up air miles at two rates. Cardholders will earn 2 miles per dollar spent when they use their card to purchase tickets and products from Delta and 1 mile per dollar spent when they make other purchases. Additionally, cardholders will earn 20,000 bonus miles after the first purchase and 2,500 bonus miles per each additional card that is approved with their application (limit of 5,000 bonus miles).
In terms of rewards, this card is all about travel. If you’re hoping to reduce your business travel costs and get plenty of other travel perks, this card may be for you. It also has reasonable fees when compared to other cards.
As mentioned, cardholders will be credited with 20,000 bonus miles after making their first purchase with the Gold Delta SkyMiles American Express Business Card. They can also earn 2,500 bonus miles for every additional card that they submit with their initial application (limit of 2).
For every dollar that cardholders charge for Delta Airlines tickets or products, they’ll earn two airline miles. All other purchases earn 1 mile. Customers can redeem these miles to pay for future flights after they’ve earned at least 10,000 of them.
This business card also offers a few more perks. Cardholders will shave $100 off the costs of their Delta flights for every 10,000 SkyMiles they redeem. By holding this card, customers and up to 8 additional travelers get a complimentary checked bag on any Delta flight. On the anniversary of their approval for the Gold card, cardholders will receive a $99 companion certificate.
The Gold Delta SkyMiles card comes with a variable purchase APR and an annual fee of $95. This annual fee is waived during the first year. For a complete list of fees and up to date APR information check the official American Express website before applying.
Gold Delta Skymiles vs Platinum Delta SkyMiles
The Gold Delta SkyMiles Card wins in a head-to-head comparison with the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card. While the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card offers 1 mile per dollar spent, the Gold Delta SkyMiles Card has the same offer as well as 2 points per dollar spent on Delta products and flights.
Bonus miles of 10,000 are available at the $25,000 and $50,000 spending marks with the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card, while 20,000 bonus miles are earned after the first purchase with the Gold Delta SkyMiles Card. Basically, it takes $50,000 in purchases with the Platinum version to get the same amount of bonus miles that the Gold Card gets after 1 purchase. Also, with it’s rewards being very similar and an annual fee of $150 that is not waived in the first year, the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card is not the best bet for most customers.
Gold Delta Skymiles vs Delta Reserve Card
The Delta Reserve Credit Card, like the other 2 mentioned cards, is an airline miles card that is offered by American Express. This card comes with a $450 annual fee. It has a few extra perks than the Gold version, such as access to the Delta Sky Club – which gives access to fully-stocked bars with satellite television to you and up to 2 guests – and a complimentary first-class airline ticket annually. If you take advantage of just the first-class ticket, you’ll probably end up better off using this card than the Gold version, as the fees and other rewards are very similar. Essentially, if travel is more of an experience than a chore for you, go with the Delta Reserve Card. Otherwise, the Delta Gold SkyMiles card will do the trick at a much lower annual fee.
