Update: The Discover More Card offer is no longer available.
Q: From reading your website, I believe that the Discover More card is the best. That being said, I would think that you need a very high credit score to be approved for this card. What credit score do I need to apply for this card?
A: For a Discover More card, your credit score should be in the “good” range, which is around 700 to 750. If your score is higher, even better. This may mean you will get a better interest rate. Credit card companies often offer lower rates to customers who are less “risky”—meaning more likely to pay their payments on time.
As with all credit cards, a number of factors go into deciding who qualifies for the card. Your chances go up if you have a steady job that you have been with for a while, and if you do not already have much debt. Having a record of paying your bills on time can also go a long way.
If you haven’t built much credit yet and are enrolled at a college or university, the better option would be to apply for a Discover student card such as the Discover Student More card or the Discover Student Open Road card. Student cards generally do not have as high of requirements as other cards, since they are geared toward students, who usually don’t have a lot of experience with paying their own bills or using credit cards yet.
