Q: At your website’s advice, I invested in a Walmart MoneyCard. But I forget how to reload it. Can you remind me?

A: There are a number of different ways to reload your MoneyCard. Many of them have no reload fee. Keep reading to find out the option that is best for you.

You can reload it at participating Walmart stores for $3. All you have to do is swipe your card and pay at the register. Also at Walmart stores, you can put a portion of or all of your check on your card. This option is free.

You can also pay through direct deposit with no reload fee. If you have never used direct deposit before, ask your employer for details. He or she should know if your company does direct deposit, and should be able to help you get set up.

Another option would be to do an online bank transfer. You can transfer money from your checking or savings account to your Walmart MoneyCard. This option is also free.

Since Walmart is partnering with Green Dot, you can purchase a Green Dot MoneyPak to reload your card. The MoneyPak is available at Walmart and other participating retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, and 7-eleven. Once you have purchased the MoneyPak, you can go online to reload the card.
