New York and Company Credit Card Review

Verdict: New York & Company card and New York & Company MasterCard both have a gimmicky rewards program and only allow you to use the $25 gift certificates that you earn when you spend $50 or more. The bad rewards program, paired with high interest rates makes the New York and Company Credit Card one of the worst store cards out there.

If you are looking to save money on purchases at New York and Company a much better alternative would be the Discover More Card. Discover More allows you to earn 5% cash back on any apparel purchases – at any store you shop at.

How this card works: The New York and Company Credit card allows you to earn “rewards” (I say that in quotes for a reason, make sure to read below) for shopping at New York and Company. If you have the MasterCard version of this card you can use this card anywhere that MasterCard is accepted and earn “Rewards”.

Fees: This card has no annual fee.

Rewards: Receive a $25 gift certificate for shopping at the store 5 times, regardless of how much you buy – sounds good right? Wrong, when I first reviewed the rewards program for this card I thought it sounded pretty good. However with closer examination I noticed that you can only redeem the gift certificates that you receive on purchases of $50 or more. This may be the first card that I have EVER reviewed that actually requires you to spend more money to redeem your rewards after you receive them.

You also receive a $25 gift certificate when you spend $100 or more in a month, but again you need to spend at least $50 on your next purchases to redeem it – why do you need a credit card to earn coupons?

With the MasterCard version of this card you earn 4 points for every dollar you spend at New York and Company and 1 point for every dollar you spend everywhere else. You can then redeem 2500 points for a $25 coupon / gift certificate / whatever you want to call it.

Pros:

  • No Annual Fee.

Cons:

  • Horrible Rewards Program.
  • High APR.
