Discover® More Card Review

Discover® More(SM) Card

Verdict: The Discover® More Card is the best cash back credit card out there hands down. You can earn up to 5% back on a lot of your purchases effectively saving you hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year. Another huge plus is that there is no annual fee or other hidden hang-ups with this card.

The Discover® More Card now takes the place of Discovers previously named Platinum card. The name has changed, but it continues to rise above most with its enormous amount of benefits, including a great cash back program.

Overview:

The Discover® More Card has a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers, an extensive cash back benefits program, no annual fee and a guaranteed fraud protection. It is a great choice in credit cards for those that have excellent credit and would like to earn maximum cash back bonuses on their everyday purchases.

Rewards:

The Discover® More Card has one of the best reward programs in credit cards with the 5% Cashback Bonus in categories that change like travel, gas, groceries, restaurants, home improvement stores and others. You can also earn up to 1% Cashback Bonus on every other purchase and up to 20% bonuses when redeeming for purchases online.

The Discover® More 5% Cashback Bonus schedule is as follows:

  • Jan–Mar 2010 Travel
  • Apr–Jun 2010 Home and Fashion
  • Jul–Sep 2010 Gas, Hotels and Movies
  • Oct–Dec 2010 Restaurants and Fashion

There is no expiration to your earned cash back bonuses and you can earn as much as you like because there is no limit to how much you can earn. Using the Discover® More Card online at ShopDiscover.com will earn cash back rewards that are credited directly onto your account. Redeem your rewards for gift cards with over 100 participating retailers or choose to have cash deposited directly into your checking account. Cash back benefits can be redeemed when it reaches $20. The Discover shopping website has many of the best retailers to give the most selection and satisfaction. If the cardholders account is in default status, rewards cannot be redeemed.

One thing that I want to mention is that you can achieve the 1% unlimited Cashback Bonus on all other purchases after you spend your first $3000 annually with the card. If you are looking to earn the 1% right off the bat I recommend paying a few bills with your card that you would have otherwise paid for with cash and then paying the card balance off immediately.

Fees:
The Discover® More Card has no annual fee. The card APR will depend on your credit history, and there may be late fees so read the card terms and conditions before applying.

Pros:

  • 5% Cashback Bonus in categories that change like travel, gas, groceries, restaurants, home improvement stores and more.
  • Up to 1% unlimited Cashback Bonus on all other purchases.
  • No annual fee.
  • 0% intro APR on balance transfers for a full 15 months, then the Regular APR
0% intro APR on purchases for a full 6 months, then the Regular APR
  • $0 Fraud Liability Guarantee means that the cardholder will not be held responsible for any fraudulent or unauthorized charges on the Discover More Card.

Cons:

  • Any earned cash back bonuses will be lost if the account is closed for any sort of reason.
  • Balance transfers cannot be used for other Discover credit card accounts.
  • If your credit account becomes over-the-limit twice or if you miss a payment, the APR can be raised a substantial amount to a default rate.

Apply for the Discover® More Card.
