With the Discover More Card and Discover Student Card you can earn up to a 5% cashback bonus on rotating categories throughout 2010. These categories change throughout the year, and the schedule is a bit different every year. You can also earn 1% cashback for all purchases not included in these categories.

When you are ready to redeem your earnings, you can choose to receive your cash back via a direct deposit, through gift cards, for tax free merchandise or for credit on your current Discover card balance. You can also choose to donate any cash you’ve earned to charities currently providing relief to Haiti such as the Red Cross.

Here is the Discover 5% Cashback schedule for 2010:

• January to March: Travel
• March: Grocery and Drug Stores
• April to June: Home and Fashion
• July to September: Gas, Hotels and Movies
• October to December: Restaurants, Department Stores and Clothing Stores.

Note: You can also earn 5% – 20% cashback when you shop online through ShopDiscover, which is Discover’s online shopping mall.
