Discover® Business Card

Verdict: The Discover® Business Card offers an excellent business credit card solution with many benefits, more than other business credit cards. There is never an annual fee on the card and 0% APR for the first 12 months on purchases, free additional employee cards and an itemized statement for each card to track spending.

Overview

The Discover® Business Card is an outstanding business credit card that gives cash back rewards for every single business purchase that your business makes, including gas purchases.

How This Card Works

If you are approved for The Discover Business Card, your business will be on its way to earning cash back rewards with the very first purchase. For office purchases, you will earn 5% cash back. For gas purchases, you will earn 2% cash back and for everything else that you purchase will get you 1% cash back.

Every one of your employees can have their own card at no charge, if you choose, and will have separate monthly statements for all cards listed on your Discover Business Card account. You can make balance transfers at the special rate up until April of 2009, but not after that date.

Travel and Shopping Benefits

There are shopping benefits when using The Discover Business Card, although one of the biggest benefits comes in the form of getting cash back when making business purchases. An option for purchasing online can be done through ShopDiscover where they offer discounts and cash back at the top retailers. When you shop on this website, you can earn 5% ñ 20% cash back bonuses.

You will get 5% cash back on all office purchases, from desks to printer paper. This applies to the first $2000 that you spend each year. Also, for every gas purchase that you make up to $2000 per year, you will be awarded 2% cash back. Every single other purchase that is made on everyday products and services will still gain 1% cash back. So, with every one of your purchases, whether it is office supplies, gas or anything else, you will be getting a cash back bonus for it all. Cash back rewards are redeemable in increments of $20, so as soon as you accumulate that amount, you can request a check be sent to you or redeem them at ShopDiscover.com.

Fees

This card has absolutely no annual fee and comes with an introductory rate of 0% for the first 12 months. It will go to 13.99% after the intro period is over. There is a 3.99% APR for just 6 months for any balance transfers that your company would like to make. Balance transfers carry a 3% transaction fee with a $5.00 minimum and do not earn the rewards.

The Discover Business Card does have a late fee and can be from $15 to $39, depending on the balance amount. There is a grace period of 20 days, although it only applies if you pay your full balance each month.

There is an over limit fee if you exceed your credit limit, if you have a balance of $1000 or greater. The fee will be $39; however, there is no fee if the balance is less than $1000.There is also a transaction charge for cash advances of 3% each and there is a minimum of $5.00 with no maximum.

If you encounter a merchant that does not accept credit cards, there are purchase checks that can be written to that merchant for payment of services. Purchase checks can be written with no limit and no fee.
