Blue Cash® from American Express

Verdict: Blue Cash® from American Express is the best rebate card around hands down. If you are looking for a cash back credit card we highly recommend this card.

Blue Cash® from American Express is highly recommended if you are looking for the a credit card that gives you cash rebates for your every day purchases. This card has been rated “The Best Cash Rebate Card” by Kiplinger’s personal finance. With Blue Cash you can earn a 5% rebate on every day purchases such as filling up for gas and shopping at the supermarket or drugstore.

How it Works

The Blue Cash rebate system is actually pretty simple. If you spend under $6,500 you get 1% back on your everyday purchases (gas stations, supermarkets, and drugstores) and 0.5% on all other purchases. Now heres were it gets good. If you spend over $6,500 a year you get 5% back on your everyday purchases and 1.5% cash back on everything else. There is no cap on the amount of cash back rebates you can receive. People who spend a lot using their credit card every month are really the ones who are going to get the most with this card.

Benefits and Additional Features

Cash Back on Your Bills - If you pay your bills with Blue Cash you can get cash back. This is a great way to save on everything from your cell phone bill to your electric and water bills.

Buyers Assurance Plan - American Express matches the manufacturers warranty of any products bought with the Blue Cash card up to an additional one year. So if anything you buy breaks before this warrenty is up, American Express will pay for it. This is great if you buy a lot of electronics.

Return Protection - If you try to return a product you buy with your Blue Cash card within 90 days and for some reason the store won’t take it back American Express will refund the purchase price to you, up to $300 per item (maximum of $1000 annually). Although there is the $1000 cap, this is still a good thing to have.

Fees

Blue Cash from American Express does not have an annual fee. When you sign up for the card you get a 0% introductory APR for 6 months.

Conclusion

Overall Blue Cash from American Express is a great card for people who are looking to get cash rebates on every day purchases such as gas and food. There are no rebate caps so you can earn unlimited cash back. If you spend over $6,500 on your credit card every month and want to get the best rebates available to you, this is the card for you. The useful features such as the Buyers Assurance Plan and Return protection are an added bonus however they are really just icing on an already great cake.

I have been having a lot of difficulty recently with the AMEX blue. Recently, they’ve had a problem with the “View statements” page, and I wasn’t able to check my statements for a week, not to mention that viewing the statements takes a bit of getting used to and a bit of thinking. Otherwise, it is like any other cashback credit card, but in order to get maximum cashback you must spend a cert…ain amount per month.
